Irrigation System Builder
Step 1. Planning
Download our PDF irrigation plan (available in A4 or A3 for ease of use) – This will be useful to complete steps 1, 2 and 3.

1.To complete an irrigation design you will need a scale plan of your property or garden.
a) if you have a landscape plan that you’re able to
use that will be preferred.
b) Otherwise, you’ll need to measure the area and
construct a scale drawing yourself.
Take measurements of the areas to be watered
such as lawns, garden beds, vegetable gardens. Draw these on a scale plan such
as 1:100 (1cm = 1m)
Step 2. Pressure Flow Test
Method 1: Ideally, we want to know the water flow in
litres per minute (Lpm) and the pressure in Kilopascals (kPa). You can hire
from The Landscape Store a pressure and flow gauge which will help you get
these exact measurements. *****LINK<<<*****
Method 2: Water flow can be measured by opening a
garden tap fully and timing the filling of a known size container. We would
then take a 20% deduction of these and use it in the design. The 20% deduction
will allow for some water pressure to fill the system
Important: To ensure you get the most accurate pressure & flow
reading, it’s recommended to complete the tests at the proposed watering time. It’s
also important that you test the pressure and flow at the tap which the
irrigation system will connect onto. Water pressure and flow will most often
decrease the further you get away from the mains water inlet to the property/water
meter.
